A rare Tuesday night game under the lights saw Walsall once gain fail to hold on to lead in what was definitely a game of two halves, especially for the referee.
I went with the Brother-in-Law and Nephew for a change – it wasn’t particularly cold either and 4,100 turned out for this mid-table match-up.
The first half was very cagey – both sides cancelled each other out pretty much.
In the second, Walsall changed formation and pressed on much more effectively and Walsall’s intensity eventually produced a goal for Johnson in the 88th minute.
Crawley though then benefited from Walsall sitting back and scored a last minute header to equalise. Full match report here.
The referee was most curious though. First half, saw most things and was quite even. Second half; gave Walsall almost nothing and made some strange decisions and let some obvious (even from the stands) such as handballs go. Who’d be a referee? But you could try to be consistent….
